Productive Saturday

Yesterday was productive. It was a Saturday and rather than spend the day relaxing, we decided to fill it with things that needed to get done! First things first... family pictures! We did a spring shoot outdoors at Castaway Island Preserve in Jax beach. Our photographer, Danielle of Danielle Jane Photography, was really nice and I think she captured some great shots! I can't wait to see them in about two weeks! She got lots of the four of us, and even took some of just Ryan and I! Oh and we can't forget the real life pictures she took of Ashlyn picking her nose and one of her throwing a tantrum! The little things in life right! It was so bright outside that Jaymee was struggling to keep his eyes open. Poor baby! It was hard on all of us but I felt really bad for him!

After pictures we came home and Ryan (with a little help from me) put up a new outdoor ceiling fan only to take it back down because the website lied to us! We were expecting a lot more power!! Grrr! We still managed to hang a new screen on the lanai and get some yard work accomplished as well!

We put together Jaymee's Baby Einstein jumper that used to be Ashlyn's and of course when we weren't looking she climbed in! A little to big now! I will post a picture of that excursion soon!
Jaymee is becoming a lot more vocal these days! I got him to laugh out loud by tickling his little feet and sticking them in his mouth! His laugh is so adorable!

We closed out the evening by going to get mexican food at Casa Maria's. There are only a handful of restaurants that we can take Ashlyn into without her losing interest before the food is on the table. Mexican restaurants work out great because she is a fan of the chips and salsa! Oh... and dumping the salt and pepper shakers on the table! Silly girl!

Yesterday was a good day.

First things first...

So... if I am being completely honest with myself... I will probably start this and quit after a couple days. At least that is what will be expected of me, as I start many projects or hobbies and shortly after I get bored and find something new. To some that may seem like I'm nothing more than a quitter... but I like to think it makes me well rounded, and I feel I know a little bit about a lot, instead of a lot about only a little bit.

I titled this blog "Can I have yesterday back?" because as I lay down in bed each night and exhale a small sigh of relief for getting through another day of tantrums, diaper blow outs, spilled milk and broken toys... I just as quickly wake up the following morning and swear that my kids have grown overnight and gotten smarter since I put them to bed. Part of me smiles at this as I take pride that Ashlyn (now almost 2.5 years old) and Jaymee (just about 4 months already!) are developing so prominently... the other part of me is saddened because I know these days go by so quickly and before I know it, the same little girl that is 'literally' begging me to play with her will soon beg me to drop her off at the mall without me! And the same little baby boy that screams until I hold him, will soon enough want mommy to drop him off around the corner so his friends don't see me kiss him on his way to school. I know that most people would just tell me "Heather, you have a while before those things will happen...". True, I guess. However, if the last 2.5 years have gone this fast... time is gonna keep speeding up with all the activities that fill our days. And that is why when the day is all said and done, all my frustrations and outbursts of rage will still make me want yesterday back. Yesterday when I screamed at Ashlyn for taking off her diaper during her nap even though I had already put it back on twice, and the second time with tape. Yesterday, when I told Jaymee to hold on while he was screaming for my attention while I finished updating my facebook page. Yesterday when I had the chance to take a mommy breather and hang out with some girlfriends, while my awesome husband took the reigns for a few hours... yet I choose to be a grumpy butt and pout in my room. For all the moments I look back and think... "Can I have yesterday back?"... this blog is for them. For me. For a chance to reflect and be thankful about all those little moments that make me want to make tomorrow better so one day I wont have to ask for yesterday back... I can say wholeheartedly... "Yesterday was great but tomorrow will be even better!". But truthfully... a little piece of me is always gonna want yesterday back... even the tantrums, diaper blowouts, spilled milk and broken toys... because yesterday I know that I got kisses first thing in the morning and kisses last thing before bed. And those very kisses are what makes me look forward to tomorrow.
